About

Software for the jobsite

I'm Chris Morales, a business systems developer in Orlando, Florida. I build the software that runs a commercial drywall and finishes contractor — the project management platform in the office, the field apps on jobsite iPads, and the integrations that keep accounting, contracts, and payroll in sync.

The interesting part of this work is that construction doesn't forgive flaky software. Superintendents work from spotty jobsite connections, billing has to reconcile to the penny against QuickBooks, and a contract can't go out with the wrong scope attached. So I spend my time on things like offline-resilient write queues, idempotent accounting syncs, and document generation pipelines — built with React, TypeScript, and Dataverse on Microsoft's Power Platform, with an Azure Functions backend handling the third-party integrations.

I got here through operations, not a CS degree. I spent years in operational analytics at Westgate Resorts, then managed program finances as a Senior PMO Analyst at KPMG — where automating my own reporting bottlenecks with Alteryx taught me that the highest-leverage code is the kind that removes work someone dreads doing. That's still the standard I build against. I'm a Microsoft Certified Power Platform Developer (PL-400).

Away from the keyboard I'm usually somewhere around Orlando — this site's writing section is where I keep notes on what I'm learning and building.
